About four hours ago, Ya Libnan reported on the continuing battle at Nahr al-Bared.
That doesn't make for good news but it sure makes for better news than what I had been able to scrape off the Internet earlier this morning.
According to today's Ya Libnan (it's about 4:20 p.m. in Lebanon, August 10) helicopter sorties have dropped 1,000 pound bombs on bunkers sheltering the remnants of the Fatah al-Islam invasion force. [1]
Yesterday, according to another Ya Libnan report, "Security sources said the men were killed in overnight and morning clashes at Nahr al-Bared camp in north Lebanon during which artillery, rockets, grenades and machine guns were used." [2]
So on goes the Battle for Nahr al-Bared.
The army's possession of the camp, however, seems the foregone conclusion while the additional loss of life despite that and over which I speculated earlier this morning seems equally an abominaton.
