The latest in the least expensive double-paned insulating windows arrived last fall, and in addition to tempering the weather, cold or hot, they damp sound as well, so the morning's storm snuck in with nary a hint o' howlin' wind.
Instead, it was the darkening apartment that got my attention followed by my moving aside the blinds beside my desk and watching tree tops sway and leaves tumble past in horizontal bands.
Then it poured.
I wouldn't mind seeing a few days more of the same.
