Edited response to conversation elsewhere--
Some may have a legitimate interest in what we do with the part of ideation that is not empirical.
Do we toss it out and say that fictions--all intuitive renderings--are worthless?
Do we say the appreciation of beauty is decorative, insensible, and unnecessary for humans?
Should we take down the cathedrals and mosques alike as vainglorious constructions about ourselves, and if not ourselves, than who or what?
Some empiricists may place faith in codes as rigid as any out of the puritanical religious camps.
Is religion the opiate of the people or is it its stimulant?
There's never any real need to answer the questions.
There's only the need to respect the answers others find, so that no harm may come to them or ourselves.
