"There was a remote-controlled bomb explosion which targeted a wedding party. Two cars were destroyed including the car in which the bride was travelling. She died," local police officer Haroon Khan told AFP. [1, 1a]
Some atrocities need little further examination.
According to the story, the bomb was remotely triggered, meaning the murderers--and no other noun can apply--meant to kill the bride.
Also dead: the bride's father, four women, and several children.
Maimed by shrapnel: too many.
Location: proximate to Matta, Swat Valley, Northwest Frontier Province (NWFP).
Earlier this week, voters in the NWFP expressed themselves at the ballot box, voting into power the pro-development Awami National Party.
The murder of a bride, her father, and guests could not be more provocative and begs justice and redress by and through the newly elected government.
