Pakistan's officer class, which may well share much with peers in other modernized military operations, would benefit little, that I can see, from continuing to overlook Al Qaeda or Taliban administrations or operations, however small or few, in its border regions. It has plenty of muscle itself for managing affairs in Kashmir; the timbre of its educational requirements and credits plus adopted hobbies of all sorts would seem to oppose, subvert, or undermine the Taliban's rigid form of authority.
