Pakistan: Defense Forces Conduct A Short Piece of Music

Three themes:

  • Assert Pakistan's sovereignty by defending her borders against repeated U.S. incursion;

  • Reject through force other foreign influence and the Talibanization of tribes along the country's frontier with Afghanistan;

  • Wheel rapidly and keep pressure and attention on Kashmir.

The strangest thing about this piece of rapidly moving warfare may lay in how increasingly irrelevant it becomes, which may mean that for Pakistan and most of the rest of the world, the state's efforts are working.  

When people fight--kids in the schoolyard, gangs under a bridge--the world swims around them, moves on, goes about its other business, takes care of itself.

PESHAWAR: A special three-day anti-polio drive has been launched in high-risk districts of NWFP and tribal agencies to vaccinate 3.13 million targeted children of below five years of age after detection of 17 polio cases, said an official release issued here on Monday

The Special National Immunisation Campaign is being run in Peshawar, Nowshera, Mardan, Kohat, Upper and Lower Dir, Charsadda, Buner, Swat and Shangla districts, Bajaur, Khyber and Mohmand agencies and Frontier Regions (FRs) Kohat and Peshawar.
