In western thinking--or around the world, most people's thinking--if you're in dock for a crime, it's a fair bet you want to get out of it.
In alternative thinking, you may want the longest jail term possible, the better to with which to teach one's philosophy to the impressionable, lost, and the willing for a guaranteed lifetime.
How about that?
For now, the term "alleged" must precede Carlos Bledsoe's good name, but should a verdict erase that term, Bledsoe will have three hots, a cot, and a career for life as an Islamist recruiter.
Nothing like killing off the competition for a start.

Some details go missing in action. For some, and with luck, the public will forget about them:
What is the name of the cleric with whom Bledsoe studied in Yemen?
What is meant by "military books" and what are the titles of the two found with him?
Bledsoe was arrested while driving a large, black, extended cab. short-bed, 4WD (I'm judging from the height of it) SUV (reference video: http://cfc.katv.com/videoondemand.cfm?id=41655): where did the ex-con get the money? Or was it borrowed or leased? From whom? when?
Children of my generation played a game called "Submarines". Using graph paper and a piece of cardboard for a divider, we mapped our ships and the other side guessed their positions. I don't recall how we moved around, but I remember compiling ideas about where my brother's ships might be.
This reminds me of that.
There are not that many Grand Ayatollah in the world and beneath them, how many next tier clerics, and what of the tier beneath that?
From whom did Bledseo receive guidance while in Yemen?
Who set him up?
We've been here before with the big "spectacular" that starts with lodgings in San Diego and gets to the end-game about two miles, if that much, from my old apartment in Laurel, Maryland. The shooting in Little Rock presents a much, much smaller event but no less deadly in portent.
