The YouTube poster of the above, DOVVNTOVVN, offers in this excerpt a political message I find more true by the day, and I am both a registered Democrat and the oldest Peter Pan you will ever meet:
The election of Barack Hussein Obama was not political. It was cultural. This is the end result of years and years of dumbing down American education, feminizing boys, infantilizing adults, extending adolescence into the 30's, and putting a tremendous focus on entertainment and distractions above all else. We have gotten soft. We value style over substance. Our Presidential election is now American Idol: White House Edition.
Conservatism is now in the wilderness. We are the loyal opposition. We are the resistance. We will not go quietly into that good night.

I withheld my vote in the last election, and I am afraid that the label "Dem." feels like a vestigial part.
This weekend marks a period of reflection, atonement, and prayer among the Jewish People (the holiday is Yom Kippur, and it falls on this coming Monday, September 28, 2009).
For this blog, the weekend may mark a different sort of change, and that is from the heavy concentration, so it has felt to me, on conflict and the Islamic Small Wars to increased concentration on perhaps the less dramatic but more mysterious presence in our lives of compassion, empathy, goodness, and love.
