I enjoy independent creative writing, journalism, and scholarship.
The time I spend on my blog, really with it, and then in a cerebral traveler's communication through web pages and online videos has become my productivity.
The library and general literary background feed into it.
Photography becomes available to it, and sometimes forms the basis for a piece.
Even music, my poor orphan, reminds me of the experience of spiritual exaltation and its universality--and lord knows that's a fit for any outsider's study of Islam, its passions, and its conflicts.
Today I've decided to collect and look around for money for blogging, accounting it as profit for publishing, using whatever appears to expand my library, fund local and regional "social photojournalism" (e.g., reporting on environmental and labor issues), and possibly develop more tightly knit research programs, especially in the area of universal conflict dynamics.
If there's a lot coming through paypal and other (grant and gift) sources, I'll reorganize as a nonprofit and develop an organization.
If not, good: leave me alone--I've got much reading on deck.
The world knows no shortage of opinionated bloggers and independent journalists; however, we are each unique in how we approach problems, especially as regards the backgrounds and tools we bring to the work. In that regard, I feel my early years spent swimming through novels, cycling through songs, and working with empathy and the universal in living have served well and will to the far off end.
